My ex and I broke up a few days ago. He and I have been fighting for a while and things just weren’t getting better. We would disagree about small things and could never let the past go and what we’d dealt with bogged us down until eventually (after a really bad weekend trip), he exploded. We’ve agreed to end things but I still think it can work if we take some time and let the negativity release. I love him very much and we had great times together and had a good relationship before things went south. I know he still cares and I still care. When I asked if there was any way we could work it out, all he said was that he needed to focus on clearing his head and nothing else. We’ve never had a proper break and I know I was really clingy and insecure in the relationship towards the end. I know I need to focus on myself as well.

What steps should I be taking in this situation? We haven’t even met up to exchange our stuff or wrap up details about things we’re involved in. I have no idea what to do moving forward. How can I get him back and make sure we’re better overall?

As you probably know, arguments are a major factor a guy breaks up with a girl. What you could do is ask to meet up to exchange your things etc and tell him it would be a good idea to take 30 days to think about whether or not you can get back together if you both want to try (after the 30 days) to talk about what went wrong and how to fix it so you can have a possible better relationship in the future.

How long were you together and why did you start acting clingy and insecure?
